I went to renew my poetic license today, but they said first I need to do an I exam

You cant sell news stories that have data and cautious predictions. Where is the panic? Where is the impending doom? C'mon people , give me something to work with here…

..and as I was a yuppy marketing and advertising executive for the better part
of a decade, I am not really impressed with stories of selling your soul to the devil...

Franz kafka – metamorphosis madness master
If all responsibility is imposed on you, then you may want to exploit the moment and want to be overwhelmed by the responsibility; yet if you try, you will notice that nothing was imposed on you, but that you are yourself this responsibility."
I want to be senile. Or at least temporary amnesia. Just so I can read Kafka for the first time once more. I still go back to him once in a while, like a moth to a light bulb, but it is not the same. I need my fix, I need the kick in the head that you get the first time you close a Franz Kafka book of stories.

He is good. He is damn good. And he is dark. He is Damn dark.
I write differently from what I speak, I speak differently from what I think, I think differently from the way I ought to think, and so it all proceeds into deepest darkness."
I used to like dark books. Disturbing. Twisted. What can I say, I was young, pretty disturbed and a bit twisted. Perfect fit. The angst of youth. Thank god that passed. And thank god that my love for Kafka didn’t.

I always wondered why, if you look at the lists of great writers you will find the lion's share belong to the dark ones, the ones who deep not into the human soul but under it, undermining it's foundations. The conclusion I came to is that it is but an illusion. People who are big readers are usually the deeper ones in the bunch, and so their choices will be the darker more serious books and authors, but it doesn’t mean you have to be dark to be good.
A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us."
Kafka was not dark to be good. Kafka was dark. And he enjoyed every second of it. If you are already a brooding mousey little Jewish guy in a middle class family in Prague,  with all the trimmings of course,  overbearing loud father, hard working mother who was never there, and five smaller siblings to take care of,  you might as well play your part. It wasn’t like he could become a Trans rave party planner.
In the struggle between yourself and the world second the world "
And indeed his first job was none other than the lucrative adventurous life of a clerk in a multinational insurance company.
Add some working experience in criminal law and you got a little more of the worst of mankind being shown to you on a daily basis
Don't bend; don't water it down; don't try to make it logical; don't edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly."
Oh, did I mention his next job was helping to run an asbestos factory? Yes. Asbestos. It seems like the guy just couldn’t get a break. An invisible hand just kept on slapping him through his life, not in a grandiose manner which makes you stop in your tracks, throw your arms to the sky and shout oh god why me. No, in small little unnoticed slaps. Decisions that at first doesn’t look suspicious but are nothing but steps in the way to misery.
I have the true feeling of myself only when I am unbearably unhappy."
Or maybe he was just unlucky. I don’t know.
The only thing I know is that we are lucky he was miserable.
It’s a sacrifice we are grateful for.
The Messiah will come only when he is no longer necessary, he will come only one day after his arrival."
