TV is a medium. but on rare occasions it is well-done, and actually worth watching .
brilliant writing, great 'non acting' and a never ending flood of great skits , gags, punch lines and whatever other word you can find that implies something really funny. It was laughing out loud funny at times, but mostly "I don’t believe they air that!" funny.
You cant sell news stories that have data and cautious predictions. Where is the panic? Where is the impending doom? C'mon people , give me something to work with here…
Louis Ck is not a funny guy. I am sorry. He's not. I have seen countless comedians, thousands of comedy shows and I can tell you that Louis ck is just not funny. And his new tv show? "louie" is not funny. Best tv show I have seen in years, but it's not funny. Who said a comedian has to be funny?
His last show was funny. "lucky louie" was a breath of fresh air in the sitcom cesspool , with brilliant writing, great 'non acting' and a never ending flood of great skits , gags, punch lines and whatever other word you can find that implies something really funny. It was laughing out loud funny at times, but mostly "I don’t believe they air that!" funny.
It showed life as it really is, without hiding the embarrassing sides of the human experience, without any discounts. If a good sitcom is a mirror of society, this was a magnifying forensic mirror that showed us every zit, every wrinkle, every liver spot and every possible defect we could hope to find, and then talked about it.
It was real, and that was funny. And then it was over. Like all good things, it couldn’t last. And louie made a second show. Which is not funny.
But it is still real. And that is what funny.
A man will cut your arm off and throw it in a river, but he'll leave you as a human being intact. He won't fuck with who you are. Women are non-violent but they will shit inside of your heart."
"This was always the case with Louis ck. If you look at old stand up routines he made through the years, you will find a simple common denominator. Yes, everybody together now – they are not funny. But, everybody together – they are real.
A lot of comedians take life and make it sound funny. Real stuff. Louis ck is such a loser he doesn’t even bother to do that. He just gives you life. Here. Look. If you can't see what is funny here I can't really help you. Sorry. And it works.
I’m bored’ is a useless thing to say. I mean, you live in a great, big, vast world that you’ve seen none percent of. Even the inside of your own mind is endless, it goes on forever, inwardly, do you understand? The fact that you’re alive is amazing, so you don’t get to say ‘I’m bored."
I had to force myself to watch the first couple of episodes of "louie" as I just didn’t get it. It looked like something went wrong, like there was something missing in this sitcom. But I gave it the credit and watch another episode, and another, hoping it will get better and become funny. It didn’t. but I was already addicted.
Because he has this quality about him, where you don’t really feel empathy as he is too much of a loser to identify with, and you don’t really feel sad for him, as in the end of the day he is nothing than just a normal guy, like everyone else, and you don’t really want to hug him because oooooh, gross. So you just watch.
The meal is not over when I'm full. The meal is over when I hate myself."
And you don’t laugh outloud. You don’t enjoy a good smirk like some british tv show, you don’t even enjoy yourself too much as every episode is a landmine of cant-look-cant-take-my-eyes-off moments when his loserdom is celebrating in yet another humiliating moment to remind him he is just a divorced fat single father with what used to be red hair, a heroic posture of a homer simpson, no money and self esteem covered with life's sole marks.
It’s a good show. Not that funny though.
"lucky Louie" is funny.
He matured. And left the funny behind. A shame.
but then again, it is a very good show.
can it be we are mature enough for that kind of comedy blasphemy?
Watch both and decide for yourself.
