I was trying to paint a picture today, but seems the color i was using was just a pigment of my imagination...

 

I do like Andy, don’t get me wrong. And the funny thing is that he would agree with me completely. He even said in an interview , when asked why he just copied the soap box and not create something original "because it is easier".
 

 

You cant sell news stories that have data and cautious predictions. Where is the panic? Where is the impending doom? C'mon people , give me something to work with here…

Andy Warhol - The wig

I was always entertained with Warhol. I do have a lot of respect for what he did, how he did it, and the basic fact he actually made money out of art. But.

I don’t know, there is still something that prevents me from taking him seriously as an artist. Maybe because OF the fact he made money out of art. Maybe  I am just jealous. Maybe. Or…maybe I know his advertising background and see how besides his 'original' work that spoke volumes of his inner mechanisms , he did produce mostly "sell-able" art, whether graphically pleasant for your everyday house or office, or "warholy" enough to be considered art and therefore bring a nicer sum.

So much was already said about Warhol that I am really picking my thoughts here in order to avoid just another Andy mastication. For me, Andy Warhol is not an artist. He is a catalyst and an enabler. Pushing people to do, or just creating the environment  where they can run amok and create . or something close to create.

I have a suspicion that he surrounded himself with all these creative people because of his inferiority complex as an artist, and if I want to be mean I would say his nonchalant breaking of every rule and restriction was also a mean to lower the bar so he can fit in. maybe it was just a mean. I don’t know. Maybe I am just mean.

now, the question is, as always with Warhol, is this Andy talking or Warhol talking. Is this the artist or the persona he created. Everybody knew he was much more comfortable in the persona then in his real skin, so I guess it was part of the show. Or was it….
I especially bowed and tipped my hat when I first saw this interview.

You got to admit. For a soft spoken pasty guy with the physique of an underdeveloped fourteen year old girl, absolutely no sexual orientation what so ever , a wig and glasses, the guy did have a huge set of balls.
And David Bowie wrote a song about him.
Lou reed wrote a song about him.
and later did a full memorial cd for him.
That's enough for me.
