COOL CATS

The jazz cats howled
something sacred
With saxophone of painful truth
In smoke filled chambers
of our heart
We gladly gave
an eye and tooth
Swing melody of told encounters
Of crazy beats of sex and nights
behind a bar room stinking alley
chords changing
passions of a fight.

The jazz cool cats howled something new
Breaking laws they made themselves
When no one understood
 the reason
One dark bar
and blues bar twelve
In black attire and a goatee
Shaking nicotine stained lip
With music gods
showing no favor
Salvation's only hope was hip.

The jazz cool cats howled something that
We felt was touching
what was gone
From lives of
work and desperation
Igniting what we haven’t known
rolled liberated inspiration
passing hand to hand in time
when notes filled up
the words were missing
diminished sevens
sang with rhyme.

The jazz cool cats
plucked strings of low
Humming walking back again
Vibrating softly in a vengeance
Of the sweet and dreadful pain
We took the a train to our inner
Most secluded twisted moon
Which shone inside we realised
The moment burnt
and gone too soon.

The jazz cool cats
skadoodled verses
Scatating jibrish words of love
When words were senseless
Senses wordless
The gutter' kingdom
shining glory
Reflected in the sky above.

The jazz cool cats knew the answer
Of what we didn’t dare to ask
And you could see in their wide pupils
The price of that enormous task
To keep the truth
where it belong
Blow-horn Prophets stroll among
Those people who knew
nothing of
The power of that holy song.
